Installing and Configuring Site Widgets

Site widgets are powerful tools for engaging your website visitors, capturing leads, and driving conversions. Cavaco AI offers several types of widgets, including popups, banners, embedded forms, and product recommendations.

1. Prerequisites

Before you can install any widgets, you must ensure the Cavaco AI Tracking Pixel is installed on your website. This pixel is required for the widgets to display and function correctly. (See our guide on Installing the Cavaco Tracking Pixel for instructions).

2. Types of Site Widgets

Popups & Modals: Great for capturing email/SMS opt-ins or promoting special offers. They appear over your website content.
Embedded Forms: Forms that sit directly within your page content (e.g., a newsletter signup in your footer).
Sticky Banners: Persistent bars at the top or bottom of the screen, useful for announcements or free shipping thresholds.
Product Recommendations: Dynamic blocks that suggest products based on browsing history or cart contents.
Product Reviews: Widgets that display customer reviews and star ratings.

3. Creating a Widget

Log in to your Cavaco AI dashboard.
Navigate to Site in the left sidebar and select the type of widget you want to create (e.g., Forms, Content, Recommendations).
Click Create Widget.
Choose a template from the library or start from scratch.

4. Designing the Widget

Use the drag-and-drop editor to customize the widget's appearance to match your brand:

Content: Update text, add images, and configure form fields.
Design: Adjust colors, fonts, borders, and padding.
Success State: Design the message users see after submitting a form (e.g., "Thanks for subscribing!").

5. Configuring Display Rules (Targeting)

This is crucial: you must define when and where the widget appears.

In the widget editor, navigate to the Targeting or Display Rules tab.
Pages: Specify which URLs the widget should appear on (e.g., only on the homepage, or everywhere except the checkout page).
Triggers: Determine what action causes the widget to appear:
- Time on page: Show after X seconds.
- Scroll percentage: Show when the user scrolls halfway down the page.
- Exit intent: Show when the user's mouse moves towards closing the browser tab.
Frequency: Set limits on how often a user sees the widget (e.g., show once per session, or stop showing after they've subscribed).

6. Publishing the Widget

Review your design and targeting rules.
Click the Publish or Set Active toggle in the top right corner.
Save your changes. The widget will now be live on your site according to your display rules.
