Understanding how Cavaco handles contact statuses, opt-outs, bounces, and spam complaints to protect your deliverability.

Contact Status Overview

Every contact in Cavaco has a status that determines whether they can receive marketing messages. Understanding and managing contact status is essential for deliverability and compliance.

Audience - Profiles

The Profiles page shows all contacts with their current subscription status.

Contact Status Types

  • Subscribed — Contact has opted in and can receive marketing emails and SMS
  • Unsubscribed — Contact has opted out of marketing messages on this channel
  • Bounced — Email address is invalid or unreachable; suppressed automatically
  • Complained — Contact marked an email as spam; suppressed automatically
  • Transactional Only — Contact can receive order confirmations and shipping updates but not marketing

Managing Subscription Status

Navigate to Audience > Profiles and click any contact to open their profile. You can view and manually update their subscription status for each channel. Note: you cannot re-subscribe a contact who has explicitly unsubscribed — they must opt back in themselves.

Automatic Opt-Out Processing

When a contact unsubscribes from email (by clicking the unsubscribe link) or opts out of SMS (by replying STOP), Cavaco immediately updates their subscription status and suppresses them from all future marketing sends. This processing is automatic and happens in real time.
